"Political journalists and other insiders tend to inflate and romanticize the influence of an especially savvy -- and media savvy -- advisor on the political dynamic. But in Foxwell's case, a lot of the mythology was true."

Len Foxwell founded Tred Avon Strategies to leverage his more than 25 years of experience in politics, government and public advocacy for his private and public sector clients.
His reputation as one of Maryland's elite political and communications strategists is well established. Legendary Annapolis political reporter Josh Kurtz once wrote that "there are plenty of operatives who are talented and indispensable to their bosses. But only Foxwell has actually changed the trajectory of Maryland politics."
Adam Pagnucco of Montgomery County's Seventh State had this to say:
"Len Foxwell...has been one of the state's top political strategists for 20 years. Name any county in the state and Foxwell will hold forth on its history, players, economy and politics. He studies these things like math students study geometry. He meticulously plans...initiatives to maximize their impact [and] get press attention...".

From 2008 to 2020, Len served as chief of staff to the Comptroller of Maryland. During his tenure, the Maryland Comptroller's Office earned national renown for its successful efforts to protect state taxpayers from fraud, unethical tax preparers and predatory lenders, while utilizing state-of-the-art technology and data analytics to recapture more than $6 billion in unpaid taxes.
As the direct supervisor of the Comptroller's Field Enforcement Division, which serves as Maryland's chief regulator of alcohol beverages, Len worked directly with Maryland's distributors and retailers to remove highly dangerous products from package store shelves. As a highly visible leader in the coalition to modernize Maryland's outdated craft manufacturing, Len has helped facilitate an era of unprecedented growth for breweries, wineries and distilleries in every corner of the state.
Prior to joining the Comptroller of Maryland, Len served as Salisbury University's Special Assistant for Government and Community Relations, and prior to that as Director of Government Relations for the Greater Washington Board of Trade. In that role, Len played an active role in the effort to bring Major League Baseball back to Washington, DC after a 33-year absence. From 1998-2002, Len served as Director of Washington-Area Transit Programs for the Maryland Department of Transportation, after having served as Press Secretary for the successful re-election campaign of Governor Parris N. Glendening.
